Police Officer Sees Little Girl Walking To School Alone - Quickly Learns Tragic Reason Why

A police officer was in a car with his wife driving along on Shobnall Road in Burton-upon-Trent, UK last week, when they were stunned to see a little two-year-old girl walking alone on the side of the road. Although he was off duty at the time, the officer’s commitment to protect and serve his community made what he did next a no brainer. He decided to pull over and go talk to the little girl to see what was going on.

The girl told him that she was okay and that she was just going to her nursery school. Then the officer asked her why she was all alone, and the little girl gave him an answer that chilled him to the bone. The girl said that she had tried to wake her mom up, but that her mom was still sleeping. The officer’s heart dropped to his stomach as he just knew something serious had happened.

The officer said he would take the little girl to her nursery school later if she would take him to her house first. Unfortunately, he knew there was a good chance that something bad had happened to her mom. When they arrived at her home, he knocked on the door, then he noticed the door was cracked open.

Within moments of walking in the door, the anonymous officer discovered that the girl’s mother, 30-year-old Nicolla Rushton, had died. He called police and waited for them to arrive to deal with the tragic situation.

Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey explained in an interview with the media that that the heart-broken officer stayed with the toddler until emergency services arrived on the scene to take custody of her.

The authorities arrived within a few minutes, and they took care of her mom’s body and made arrangements for social services to get the little girl into a safe place.
