A popular fitness fanatic on Instagram announced she was pregnant. She posted pictures of her baby bump and showed off her body in her third trimester. When she checked her comments one night, she was shocked by the backlash she got.
Hannah Polites says her fans turned on her when she was pregnant. Many lashed out at her for not having too small a baby bump. They accused the fitness queen of unhealthy eating and putting her trim, tone frame ahead of her unborn child.
Polites said her unborn baby is 20% bigger than the average baby at that stage of development. Her baby has been given a clean bill of health by her doctor, and the expecting mother feels good keeping fit.
“It’s truly shocking to read some of the comments regarding my health and that of my unborn baby, especially at a time where women are particularly vulnerable and can be more sensitive to bullying,” said Polites.
Polites says she's 'making informed decisions when it comes to nutrition and exercise in pregnancy and motherhood' and feels good about her pregnancy is going. She's ignoring the nay-sayers and wants to see all women's bodies celebrated.
“I will continue to post photos of my body as I feel that it’s important to be a positive role model in the community," said Polites.
