Check Those Old VHS Tapes - You May Be Sitting On A Small Fortune

Remember the good old days of VHS tapes? Time flies in the world of home entertainment, but there was a time when the VHS player was the latest and greatest invention in the whole wide world. Families could now have their very own entertainment libraries right in their own homes, and a trip to the video store to check out the newest releases was often a pretty big highlight.

Fast forward to today, and the magic of the internet allows us to download and stream just about anything we can imagine - without having to deal with those clunky old tapes.

Those that have hung onto their old collections will want to pay attention to this. As Birmingham Mail shares, some old tapes are trading for thousands of dollars, and that means you could be sitting on a small fortune. As with all the great things of yesteryear, there are scores of collectors out there that will pay top dollar - or at least something close to it - for a piece that makes them feel somewhat complete.

For the most part, it’s the truly rare VHS tapes that attract the most money and interest, but even some of the more popular tapes can be traded for some cash. Some of the rare titles that are fetching a pretty penny over in the UK are Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks, The Beast in Heat, The Legend of Hillbilly John, Journey Into Beyond and Don't Open the Window, but even popular films such as The Evil Dead are attracting interest.

So if you think you may have a treasure chest of your own boxed away in the attic, your best bet is to pull it on out and start searching for those same titles online. Of course, those in pristine condition with their original boxes are likely your best bet to sell, but you never do know what someone else would be willing to pay.
