Female Pastor Violently Murdered By Terrorist In Her Own Church

In the wake of the sectarian conflict in Iraq, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, there are an increasing number of reports that indicate a rise in instability, violence, and militancy across Africa. A recent incident in Nigeria involving a group of murderous Islamic fundamentalists and an innocent Christian female pastor has emphasized this disturbing trend. The complete circumstances of the incident remain unknown at this point in time and initial details are only just beginning to trickle in. However, from the available information, it is believed that the pastor, 42-year-old Eunice Alisha, was preaching to her regular Saturday morning congregation at Divine Touch Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abuja, when a group of Muslim men launched an attack on the woman.

As Ms. Alisha delivered her sermon, the Islamic militants allegedly burst through the doors of the church and moved towards the preacher, unsheathing knives and revealing firearms. As the congregates watched in horror, the men proceeded to fatally slash Mr. Alisha’s body and neck before leaving the way they had come.
Horrifyingly, when the terrified parishioners reached the altar, they found that Ms. Alisha’s dying body had been strategically placed with her head resting on the Parish Bible. It is believed that the Nigerian authorities have been contacted in relation to the sickening incident and are searching for the murderous culprits. It remains unclear if Ms. Alisha had any previous exchanges with the men, investigators have initially labeled the attack as an act of religiously motivated terror.

Since the rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, Islamic militants and terrorist organizations across the world have become bolder and more aggressive, targeting schools, embassies, tourists and religious icons. One of the most notorious examples of Islamic militancy within Nigeria is the terrorist group, Boko Haram, which roughly translates to ‘No to Western education.’ The significant growth of Islamic militancy across the Maghreb and Sahel regions of Africa is likely to continue unless a concerted, multi-lateral effort is made to degrade terrorist organizations and stop the spread of radicalization.
