Lewandowski Issues Warning To Republican Lawmakers - If You Don't Back Trump, You'll Lose

Congressional Republicans who do not support President Trump’s legislative proposals will be in danger of losing their races in next year’s midterm elections, former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski warned Wednesday.

“President Trump was elected to change the country, and you can get on board that train or you can lose your next election because, I can promise you this, the Democrats have a different agenda,” Lewandowski said, according to Fox News. “They have forgotten about the middle class, they’ve forgotten about infrastructure, they’ve forgotten about the people who voted for Donald Trump for change, and if you don’t want to provide that change, in 18 months we’re going to have another election.”

He continued: “It’s my recommendation to those Republicans in Congress to get on board, get the final conclusion done on the repeal and replace of Obamacare, get the massive tax cut, the largest tax cut in the history of our country, get that done, get the infrastructure done, get the wall built. If you do those things, you will get re-elected. If you don’t do those things, it’s because you have failed the American people.”

Lewandowski, who resigned from the campaign last summer after allegedly assaulting a reporter, may be returning to the president’s team. Multiple news sources have reported that Trump is considering a shakeup of his White House staff. According to Politico, Lewandowski did not reveal whether he is seeking a position in the administration. Last week, he and Trump’s former deputy campaign manager (David Bossie) reportedly were discussing possible jobs with White House officials. Lewandowski recently resigned as a lobbyist.

“It’s very important to know that I can be helpful on the outside, if they want me to be helpful on the inside and the right role is there, you know, I would be willing to consider that,” Lewandowski said in a “Fox & Friends” interview. “I’ve been very clear, I want to make sure that this president’s agenda gets done, which is tax reform and health-care reform and building the wall on our southern border and all the things that he pledged during the campaign that he gets to execute.”

The former campaign chief made it clear that believes Trump needs to make some changes. “When you have a communications team, they have to have that relationship with the president to understand how he communicates, because he is the greatest communicator, as a president, we’ve ever had. He’s better than the staff. He knows the media better,” Lewandowski explained.

He added: “When you have a president who is so active, who is so articulate, who is so good at communicating with the media, sometimes you’ve got staff who have to keep up with him, and it's much easier, I think, if you ask people who had a pre-existing relationship to understand how the president functions. That makes it much more cohesive. So just getting up to speed in a very difficult environment when you have so much negative media attention is a hard thing to do, I think, for anybody.”
