Chelsea Clinton Trolled On Social Media After Fawning Magazine Cover

Chelsea Clinton finds herself front and center on the cover of Variety magazine as part of its ‘Power Women of New York’ cover. As Buzzfeed shares, users on social media are struggling to figure out exactly what she has done that’s so ‘powerful.’

The magazine has touted Chelsea’s appearance on the cover extensively, including this post on social media.

“How cool does Chelsea Clinton look on our Power of Women, NY, cover?
Read her great interview with @RaminSetoodeh in tomorrow's issue!” the post read.

That prompted a slew of responses that the magazine - and Chelsea - likely weren’t expecting.

“What precisely has this woman accomplished. Ever?” shared one user.

A quick glance at Chelsea’s history since her time as First Daughter reveals that this user may be onto something. She’s been employed at a consulting firm, a hedge fund and had a failed stint as a contributor for NBC, and that’s about it.

“The US is a republic. Stop trying to invent royal families,” shared another user.

Another assessment that hits the mark pretty well. The majority of the mainstream press has a pretty bad habit of fawning all over the Clinton’s, despite the fact that a good portion of American voters are beyond tired of hearing about them. We can see the presidential election results for confirmation.

“getting to become a political icon because you happen to have the right last name is antithetical to progressive ideals,” chimed in another.

As you can see, social media was pretty much on fire with some pointed commentary about Chelsea’s appearance on the cover. There have been plenty of whispers that Chelsea will eventually enter the ‘family business’ to continue carrying the Clinton torch for the next generation.

Whether that’s the case or not remains to be seen, but Chelsea would be wise to pad the resume - like a lot - before even considering such a move. Simply entering a race off of the strength of her last name will likely not end well, no matter how much the press attempts to force the narrative that she’s so ‘powerful’ down our throats.
