Richard Simmons Finally Speaks Out On His Abrupt ‘Disappearance’ Two Years Ago

In today’s day and age, intriguing news stories have a way of snowballing out of control. Before you know it, that interesting tidbit you just read and shared gains some serious momentum, and updates to that story begin popping up like wildfire. When you add a celebrity to the mix, there’s sometimes just no stopping the speculation and commentary. That’s what’s been going on with Richard Simmons over the past few years, and fans are downright scared for his well-being.

As the Independent Journal Review shares, Simmons has finally broken his silence. After closing his popular fitness studio without notice back in 2014, the rumor mill went into overdrive. Simmons stayed completely out of the public eye as well, and that led the fears to ramp up that he was either sick or in some kind of danger. The speculation spawned a cottage industry of its own, but Simmons has finally spoken out.

He recently sought medical attention for a gastrointestinal issue, and that prompted a flood of support and well wishes on social media. Simmons was genuinely touched, and he finally opened up to the media.

“Hello to everyone who has shown concern for me and sent their good wishes. You will never know how much it means to me. Aren’t you sick of hearing and reading about me?! LOL Well by now you know that I’m not ‘missing,’ just a little under the weather. I’m sure I will be feeling good and back home in a couple of days," he said.

So there you have it. Perhaps his disappearance was simply due to his desire to lay low for a little while. His longtime fans can breathe a sigh of relief, and those that took the speculation way too far can now say ‘whoops.’

“This has reminded me that when you need help you can’t be afraid to reach out and ask for it. We all think we should always be able to solve our problems all by ourselves and sometimes it’s just bigger than we are. I reached out and I hope you will too. I’m sure there are people in your life who love and care for you and would do anything to help you with the challenges you face. Just knowing you care has already made me feel better. Hope to see you again soon!” he continued.
