Horses are beautiful, majestic creatures, but there is one breed that blows them all away in the beauty department. This rare but stunning breed looks so magical, it looks like it should be sporting a horn and frolicking through an enchanted forest with fairies and elves.
'Akhal-Teke' is a rare horse breed from Turkmenistan, and compared to other breeds of horses, this gem is truly a stunner. Akhal-Teke's sport the silkiest, shiniest, smoothest coat of 'blonde' hair that they look like they're made of gold.
When the sunlight hits, they look like they're glowing with a golden aura. There's a structural element to their hair that causes it to refract light.
The horses have a much shorter, neater mane than other horses, a perky tail and their muscular legs taper into dainty hooves. They have a narrow head, large eyes and long ears.
There are only about 1,250 of these beauties on the entire planet. The Teke tribe first bred them and now they're on the country's national emblem. In China, they call them 'Horses from Heaven'. It’s one of the most ancient species of horse.
If you dream of owning your own horse from Heaven, it's going to cost you. While most pet horses cost around $5,000 or less, the average cost of Akhal-Teke is $15,000, with some specimens costing up to $35,000. You're going to need a lot of gold to get that golden breed.
Then again, you can’t put a price on true beauty.
